Plastering Vs Tiles
The two most obvious wall designs in South Africa are walls that have been plastered and walls that have been tiled. Both of these two walling styles have their own advantages, wall tiles are the least common.
Plastering is the most common wall style because it requires minimum work, usually the developers will do all the work and the house will come standard with plastering. Painting is very important when plastering the wall, otherwise it won’t be pleasant at all, so painting the wall with a few coats of wall paint can be costly. The advantage of choosing wall tiles over plastering is that they do not need to be painted, they only need to be put in place once off. Plastered walls need to be repainted every few years which can be a tedious process.
There is no clear winner in the Plastering Vs Tiles debate, because both usually do a job that is satisfactory to the home owner. Wall tiles are generally more expensive than plastering because they are extra building supplies which need to be purchased. Tiling wall tiles is also an art and a person with expertise in tiling will need to be called in to install them onto the wall.
